Reynaldo “El Piedra” Salgado is a boxer from Cartagena who lives working as a “bait”: he fights without having the chance to win. One day, Breyder appears; A boy eager to box who claims to be his son. The father and son learn to live together. Reynaldo finds someone who makes him feel useful again, and Breyder learns to admire the father who makes sacrifices and not the supposed champion. A different glance over the “sport of flat noses”: not the stars, but the middle class; not the hero, but the worker. No the idol, but the man.
Shooting at original places and working with non-professional actors, many of them old boxing legends, director Rafael Martínez, born in Cartagena, manages to show a face of his home town that people rarely see. In his movie, he seeks to explore important, sensitive questions such as: „What makes a family? … What is the role of a father in the macho society of the Caribbean?
